Session Title:
Pandemic, Politics & Possibilities: What’s Next for Emerging Markets?

Central banks’ hawkishness, the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and China’s slowing economy have weighed on risk assets this year. We will discuss the major events impacting emerging economies and our constructive outlook for emerging markets in 2023. With more relaxed COVID restrictions and policy support working their way into the economy, particularly the property market, China should continue to recover through 2023. Recent data also point to further recovery in sectors hit by the Omicron wave. We will discuss scenarios that could change the narrative affecting emerging markets as several points are coming together to suggest an improved environment. We will also spend time discussing the importance of sustainability and impact investing in emerging markets.
